Joe Nohner, a graduate student at the Univeristy of Michigan, recently completed his thesis on Musky Spawning Habitat. The study was a joint effort between Musky Clubs Alliance of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and the Univeristy of Michigan. Part of the reason for the study was to determine where muskies spawn in different types of lakes so that prime spawning habitat could be protected and where habitat has been destroyed, possibly restored. A model was created so that this could be applied to other lakes without having to complete an actual study on each lake.
